Lead Data Scientist

NiSource is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to support the Enterprise Data & Analytics Organization, working as a technical consultant within the broader data science organization. In this hybrid role based in Columbus, OH, you will turn complex data into strategy-focused insights, lead AI and machine learning modeling efforts, and collaborate across technical and business teams to move ideas into delivered solutions.

Role overview

• Translate complex data into key strategy insights and valuable actions
• Serve as an expert who can discover insights from data and communicate findings to data scientists, business stakeholders, and leaders across different levels
• Perform data exploration and data mining to identify opportunities for modeling and decision support
• Build advanced modeling solutions using AI and machine learning techniques
• Develop ML, AI, and statistical models that create value for the organization
• Lead recommendations from ideation through delivery of solutions
• Coach, review, and delegate work to professionals with less experience
• Work independently with guidance limited to the most complex situations
• Communicate effectively to senior leadership without oversight and influence others on policies, practices, and procedures
• Collaborate with business clients to establish professional relationships and understand business needs

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree
• 7+ years of experience as a data scientist, data analyst, or similar role
• 7+ years of experience coding in statistical and database languages such as SQL, Python, R, and Spark
• 7+ years of experience applying machine learning such as NLP, image recognition, boosted trees, or related duties
• Strong knowledge of cloud platform tools and techniques
• Master's Degree or advanced degree in statistics, data science, physics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, or a comparable discipline

Hybrid location and schedule

Salary range

• USD 133,400 - 200,100 per year
• Salary offered is based on skills, job-related knowledge, relevant experience, and internal pay equity
