Principal Data Scientist - AI Trainer
Job Description
DataAnnotation is hiring a Principal Data Scientist - AI Trainer to evaluate and design quantitative tasks that help train and benchmark AI systems. This fully remote role focuses on turning real analytics work into clear problem sets, supported by technical writing and end-to-end analytical code.
What you’ll do
- Evaluate AI-generated quantitative work, including statistical analysis, predictive modeling, scientific reasoning, and data-driven insights, ensuring technical accuracy and real-world validity.
- Design and solve quantitative problems used for training and benchmarking AI systems, covering areas such as forecasting, experimental analysis, optimization, and statistical inference.
- Write technical explanations and produce well-documented analytical code.
- Provide targeted feedback that directly influences the next generation of AI models for quantitative reasoning.
What you bring
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in a quantitative role or research environment, such as data science, statistics, economics, finance, physics, biology, epidemiology, operations research, or a related field.
- Coding experience and comfort writing and reviewing analytical code end-to-end.
- Practical experience with statistical methods, predictive modeling, and experiment design, including A/B testing, hypothesis testing, regression, classification, and time-series forecasting.
- Fluency in English (native or bilingual) with strong writing skills.
- Education: a bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (a master’s or PhD is a plus).
- Additional credentials are a plus, such as Kaggle Competition ranking, AWS/GCP ML certifications, or equivalent demonstrated expertise.
Pay, location, and scheduling
- Location: Massachusetts (remote).
- Schedule: fully remote with a flexible schedule, including the ability to choose which projects you take on and when you work.
- Compensation: projects are paid hourly, USD 50–100 per hour (up to $60 USD per hour is referenced), with potential for higher-paying projects based on performance.
- Payment method: payment is made via PayPal.
