Job Description

Purpose-driven AI work with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi in Flowood, MS (onsite). In this role, you will design, build, and deploy machine learning models and AI solutions that support patient care delivery, predictive diagnostics, and clinical operations. You will partner across teams to optimize workflows and help ensure AI-driven infrastructure is scalable.

What you’ll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in an AI or machine learning engineering role.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in data analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and core ML libraries including TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, and XGBoost.
  • Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience with any cloud platform and its AI/ML services: AWS (Vertex AI is not AWS, but listed as Vertex AI), Azure ML, or SageMaker (AWS/Azure/GCP are listed alongside these services).
  • Ability to manipulate large data sets and identify trends using BI tools.
  • Strong communication skills to relate complex topics to senior management, translating technical results into jargon-free explanations and data storytelling.
  • Ability to lead projects and coordinate development efforts across teams with varying skill levels.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills to diagnose unpredictable model behavior, break down complex data challenges, and optimize system-level tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate the development of AI solutions aligned to strategic business needs across the organization.
  • Support the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle, from identifying data through maintenance in production.
  • Implement best practices for continuous integration, delivery, and model training.
  • Act as a liaison between business users, data engineers, and developers to build, implement, and integrate AI solutions into services and products.
  • Create and maintain technical and user documentation for AI models.
  • Lead data analysis efforts to support strategic decision making.
  • Use data visualization and trend analysis to produce reports for leadership teams.
