AI Engineer R&D

Nova Southeastern University is seeking an AI Engineer R&D to support research and development of human-centered AI solutions. This onsite role in Clearwater, FL focuses on building machine learning and LLM capabilities, designing evaluation approaches, and translating experimental results into deployable systems with an interdisciplinary team.

Research and Development Responsibilities

• Research, build, train, and deploy machine learning models, algorithms, and LLM applications
• Design custom workflows, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines
• Test and evaluate model quality using benchmarks, guardrails, and human feedback to help prevent system drift
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to create and integrate human-centered AI-driven solutions
• Conduct experiments and analyze results to improve AI models
• Contribute to the design and architecture of AI systems
• Optimize AI models for performance and scalability
• Prepare technical reports and presentations based on research findings
• Stay updated with the latest AI and machine learning research and trends, proposing innovative solutions as new technologies emerge
• Ensure the ethical and responsible use of AI technologies

Required Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages
• Experience with AI and machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Hugging Face
• Knowledge of data analysis and statistical modeling
• Experience with deep learning techniques, NLP (Natural Language Processing), and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Background

• Up to two (2) years of relevant experience required
• Experience in artificial intelligence research, development, or related technologies is preferred
