Data Analyst
Job Description
Rhode Island Public Health Institute (RIPHI) uses data to improve population health, strengthen clinical and operational decision-making, and support research and service programs. In this hybrid role in Providence, you will work with healthcare data from EHRs and other systems to deliver dashboards, reports, and insights that help teams move from analysis to action.
What you’ll do
- Collect, clean, validate, and analyze healthcare data from EHRs, claims, financial systems, and other data sources
- Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Conduct EHR data analyses and partner with the Chief Programs and Research Officer to interpret clinical and research findings
- Prepare reports, manuscripts, and technical writing connected to projects
- Collaborate with RIPHI leaders to align on project objectives and identify relevant data metrics
- Maintain data integrity, quality, and compliance, including HIPAA and other healthcare regulations
- Support quality improvement initiatives and strategic planning through data analysis
- Manage population health data and produce population health reports with the executive team (including the CEO, CFO, and Chief Medical Officer)
- Create and implement data management and governance policies, including procedures for effective data collection, maintenance, and sharing
- Oversee data software and data management, including DataView, AthenaHealth, and REDCap among others
- Design efficient and secure procedures for data handling and analysis
- Establish rules and procedures for data sharing with external stakeholders
- Contribute to data entry and data cleaning, and support/trains others in daily use of data systems
- Build reports and assist with data extraction for grant reports and submissions, presentations, quality assurance, and other deliverables
- Monitor and analyze data systems performance and recommend enhancements (such as new technologies or upgrades)
- Troubleshoot data-related problems and authorize maintenance or modifications
What you’ll bring
- Master’s degree (Required)
- 3-5 years of experience, preferably in the healthcare industry (minimum 3 years)
- BS/BA in data analytics, computer science, health and data systems, biostatistics, or a related field
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Microsoft Excel
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI (preferred)
- Knowledge of research and health data systems
- Excellent understanding of data administration and management functions
- Familiarity with database and information system technologies
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Record systems such as AthenaHealth
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work in an entrepreneurial and fast-paced environment and to contribute quickly as part of a team using data to solve complex public health and clinical problems
- Strong understanding of 340B Program compliance, operations, and risk areas
- Strong attention to detail, particularly in compliance-driven environments

Salary: USD 76,000 - 90,000 per year
