Data & Analytics Engineer
Job Description
Peterson CAT is seeking an on-site Data & Analytics Engineer in San Leandro, CA to evolve its enterprise analytics platform with cloud data platforms, Power BI, and AI enabled workflows.
Responsibilities
- Ingest and steward data through raw, transformed, and curated layers aligned to analytics needs.
- Design and maintain cloud-based data pipelines using Snowflake and Microsoft Fabric, while continuing to support existing SSIS workloads and Azure Data Factory where applicable.
- Create analytics ready datasets via SQL based transformations.
- Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and semantic models, primarily in Power BI.
- Leverage Python and AI enabled workflows to speed data ingestion and schema discovery.
- Accelerate source to target mapping and transformation logic with Python and AI driven workflows.
- Speed ETL troubleshooting and optimization using Python and AI assisted workflows.
- Enhance report and dashboard generation through Python and AI enabled processes.
- Advance data validation, reconciliation, and impact analysis with AI powered workflows.
- Uphold strong data quality, reconciliation, and documentation standards across data assets.
- Support ingestion, modeling, and analytics enablement for finance and ERP platforms, including Microsoft Dynamics.
- Build reusable data pipelines, transformation patterns, and data models to improve consistency and scalability.
- Contribute to data and analytics standards, best practices, and frameworks within the evolving Data & Analytics Center of Excellence.
- Collaborate with business, finance, and IT teams to define requirements, validate outputs, and deliver trusted analytics solutions.
- Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a closely related field, plus at least three years of direct experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or analytics, or an equivalent combination.
- On-site work capability with close collaboration to business, finance, and IT teams.
- Strong SQL and data warehousing experience with hands-on work on modern cloud platforms (Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, or similar), including ETL/ELT ingestion and transformations.
- Experience using Python for data engineering tasks, automation, and AI-enabled workflows.
- Hands-on experience building production reports and dashboards; Power BI is required, with other BI tools acceptable.
- Experience with Microsoft integration tools, including SSIS and/or Azure Data Factory.
- Proven experience supporting end-to-end data pipelines from ingestion through analytics and reporting.
