Job Description
Murphy USA is seeking a Data Engineer I to develop and support data products on a cloud data lake, build scalable pipelines, enable enterprise analytics, and partner with business units to drive analytics execution. Location: El Dorado, AR onsite.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support data products on a modern cloud data lake, applying cross-domain technology knowledge to deliver a scalable, reliable data engineering platform.
- Provide data services for enterprise analytics by deploying automated pipelines at scale and optimizing data transformations for priority use cases.
- Contribute hands-on to code development and collaborate with business units and technology peers to enable analytics execution.
- Collaborate across the organization to design, implement, deploy, and maintain data‑driven systems.
- Create and maintain enterprise data pipelines with emphasis on security, reusability, and data quality.
- Debug issues, perform root-cause analysis, and contribute to proactive and preventive maintenance.
- Contribute to technical debt reduction and adhere to clean code practices.
- Proficiency in one or more languages such as Python, SQL, or PySpark.
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools, including Databricks Asset Bundled and Terraform.
- Participate in the data governance council to define and review standards, guidelines, and data models to uphold data quality.
- Utilize DevOps tooling to automate deployment and validation of data pipelines.
- Develop and execute comprehensive testing plans and documentation for assigned data system components.
- Identify defects and implement fixes for code and integration within the data architecture.
- Plan and collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders on business initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum 1 year of professional experience in data engineering or related field
- Strong fundamentals in BI systems design
- Knowledge of big data architectures and technology landscape
- Experience with ETL orchestration
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multitasking environment
