Data Engineer II
Job Description
Data Engineer II on the Amazon Publisher Monetization (APM) team focuses on owning data foundations and designing end-to-end data pipelines and models across APM publisher data. The role emphasizes data quality, scalable architectures, and enabling trusted insights for business teams and partners. This position is based onsite in Seattle, WA.
Responsibilities
- Create and refine data models and end-to-end data pipelines across APM's publisher data, utilizing AWS services such as Redshift, EMR, Airflow, Kinesis, and Lambda, plus internal Amazon tooling
- Shape data architecture to support both human analysts and AI driven analytics agents, balancing immediate delivery with long-term scalability
- Establish data quality standards across owned datasets by building automated monitoring, investigating anomalies, and driving root-cause resolution with limited guidance
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand decision-making needs and translate ambiguous requirements into trusted, well-modeled data products
- Lead the design of next-generation APM data architecture to improve scale, quality, timeliness, coverage, monitoring, and security while guiding team-wide technical direction
- Mentor other engineers on data engineering best practices, code quality, and system design principles
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- 4+ years of data engineering experience
- 2+ years of developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using ETL/ELT processes
- 2+ years of developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using data modeling
- 1+ years of developing and operating large-scale data structures for business intelligence analytics using SQL
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience building and operating highly available distributed systems for data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets
- Ability to deliver end-to-end projects independently
- Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

Location and Compensation
Location: Seattle, WA onsite
Salary: USD 132,100 - 178,800 per year
