Job Description

Lead the Data Engineering team and help shape Tire Rack’s enterprise data platform with secure, scalable solutions in the Databricks and AWS ecosystems.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Data Engineers from entry-level through Senior roles
  • Own team performance management, career development, succession planning, hiring, and workforce planning
  • Build a delivery culture centered on ownership, collaboration, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Oversee data pipeline architecture and execution using Databricks, Spark, Delta Lake, Workflows, and Unity Catalog
  • Guide the evolution of the Bronze/Silver/Gold medallion architecture
  • Ensure secure, scalable AWS infrastructure using S3, IAM, Glue, Lambda, VPC, and related services
  • Set and improve CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code standards, including Terraform
  • Lead initiatives across data governance, security, compliance, data quality, monitoring, and reliability
  • Define SLAs and operational standards for critical data platforms and pipelines
  • Drive performance optimization and cloud cost-management strategies
  • Lead incident response and root-cause analysis to improve platform reliability
  • Translate business requirements into scalable, sustainable technical solutions
  • Partner with BI, Analytics, Data Science, Software Development, and other IT teams
  • Contribute to the enterprise data roadmap and lead modernization of the data platform
  • Evaluate new Databricks and AWS capabilities and identify adoption opportunities

Requirements

  • 8+ years of progressive professional data engineering experience
  • 3+ years of leadership experience at the Supervisor, Assistant Manager, or comparable level
  • Deep knowledge of Databricks, including Spark, Delta Lake, Workflows, and Unity Catalog
  • Strong experience designing and supporting data solutions in AWS, including storage, identity and access management, networking, and compute optimization
  • Experience leading cloud data-platform modernization initiatives
  • Solid understanding of data architecture, governance, security, quality, reliability, and cloud cost optimization
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and develop employees across multiple career levels
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills
