Data Scientist Asc - E1

Data Scientist position at Lockheed Martin Space focused on exploratory research, statistical analysis, and machine learning to support mission outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Engage with customers to understand and translate collection priorities into technical strategies, then assess strategy performance.
• Develop requirement traceability matrices that connect customer needs to specific capabilities and performance parameters.
• Analyze customer feedback and collection results to refine planning models and improve future mission effectiveness.
• Collaborate with customers to create collection plans that maximize value within operational constraints.
• Maintain documentation of customer requirements, constraints, and preferences to support consistency across missions.
• Review historical collection data to identify coverage gaps and recommend configurations to address shortfalls.
• Act as a technical liaison between customers and engineering teams to ensure requirements are implemented correctly.
• Conduct exploratory research and analysis to find novel and meaningful patterns in data.
• Apply statistical methods to reject or accept hypotheses regarding relationships or latent predictive factors discovered through the work.
• Use tools and numerical computing systems such as GPU processing, distributed computing, highly parallel coding, and cloud computing to deliver results.
• Work with datasets using applied statistics and machine learning algorithms, including exploratory data analysis to identify relationships, patterns, and trends.
• Develop predictive models and new algorithms to address data and business problems.
• Interpret model outputs using knowledge of math and statistics, and provide actionable recommendations supported by effective visualizations.

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to cultivate and develop effective customer relationships and to work with senior technical management.
• Ability to learn and troubleshoot complex systems.
• Basic programming skills using UNIX/LINUX.
• Active TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph.
• Previous experience working with a customer base on programs involving complex systems, software development, and issue resolution.
• Experience conducting technical investigations and presenting results to a leadership team.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Enjoys teamwork and collaborating with people across different functions.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.

Pay information

• Full-Time Salary Range: $75,400 - $140,000 per year
• Salary range listed on the requisition

Location: Aurora, CO (onsite)
