Machine Learning Engineer
Job Description
The Machine Learning Engineer will join CoVar in Durham, NC to develop software and ML algorithms that solve real world customer problems, with opportunities to present to DoD and industry customers and publish work in both classified and unclassified settings.
Role overview
This position emphasizes hands-on software development and machine learning implementation, integrating data-driven solutions into production systems while communicating outcomes to senior stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate to develop software and machine learning algorithms addressing real world customer challenges.
- Handle data, design and evaluate algorithms, and implement production code for deployment on real systems.
- Present findings and results to high level DoD and industry customers.
- Publish novel work in both classified and unclassified settings.
Requirements
- Software expertise in Python and core numerical/analytics packages (NumPy, Pandas), Git, PyTorch or TensorFlow, and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and regression testing.
- Strong AI/ML foundation with deep knowledge of state-of-the-art approaches in computer vision (preferred), natural language processing, classical machine learning, Bayesian models, or related areas.
- B.S. degree required; M.S. or Ph.D. in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or a related field preferred.
- Excellent technical communication skills.
- Ability to work on site in Durham, NC; relocation assistance available.
- Eligibility for US security clearance; US citizenship is required.
