Responsibilities

• Utilize Tesla data to measure map quality and surface issues across lane graphs, connectivity, attributes, points of interest, and related elements
• Automate workflows to improve precision, identify gaps, and accelerate map improvements
• Design, prototype, and deploy cutting-edge machine learning and data-driven algorithms to enhance the map-building process
• Leverage insights to prioritize improvements across the map-building stack
• Own and champion map quality as a core component of the Robotaxi and Full Self-Driving experience

Requirements

• Strong fundamentals in geospatial and topological analytics
• Experience measuring, improving, and validating map and lane-graph quality
• Comfort working with large production-scale datasets
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or C++, with libraries for geospatial or graph analysis
• Experience with GIS and map-building or map-quality problems at scale is preferred
• Experience applying machine learning approaches to map-related problems is a plus
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with software engineers on open-ended projects in small, fast-moving teams
• Strong ability to communicate actionable analytics and insights to cross-functional teams
• Degree in Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent demonstrated by experience and ability

What to Expect

As a member of the Vehicle Controls and Navigation Algorithms team, you will help develop accurate maps of the world’s road network that power Tesla’s navigation engine used by current vehicles and future Robotaxis. You will experiment with new algorithmic approaches to build maps, improve their quality, and implement these changes in production systems. Your work will influence the customer experience by driving improvements across the map-building workflow.

Compensation

Expected salary range is USD 140,000 to 360,000 per year, plus cash and stock awards and benefits. Pay may vary based on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may include additional elements beyond salary; details are provided if an offer is extended.
