Mid-Level Data Engineer

A mid level data engineer role supporting Department of Defense initiatives, based in Kaiserslautern, Germany. The position centers on designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and systems to ensure data availability, reliability, and security for defense related applications, with eligibility for a Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes for ingesting, processing, and storing large volumes of structured and unstructured data.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs.
• Implement data quality and validation checks to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data.
• Optimize data storage and retrieval performance using appropriate technologies and techniques.
• Ensure compliance with DoD data governance policies, security protocols, and ethical AI principles.
• Support the integration of data systems into cloud-based environments (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Azure Government).

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship and active [Secret / Top Secret / TS/SCI] security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Must possess proficiency with Maven, Vantage, TDP, and Advana.
• 3+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles, with at least 1 year supporting federal or defense programs.
• Proficiency in SQL and programming languages such as Python or Java.
• Experience with data warehousing solutions (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake) and ETL tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Informatica).
• Knowledge of data modeling, schema design, and data architecture best practices.
• Familiarity with DoD data systems, cybersecurity protocols, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS GovCloud, C2S, Azure Government).
