Principal Data Engineer - Global Cybersecurity Data & Analytics

Liberty Mutual is hiring a Principal Data Engineer for its Global Cybersecurity Data and Analytics team in Plano, TX (onsite).

Responsibilities

• Consult on the design and development of complex programs and tools for ingestion, curation, and provisioning of enterprise data for analytics, reporting, and data science
• Build and design data architecture that improves accessibility, efficiency, governance, and data quality
• Collect, clean, and transform traditional and big data to maintain accuracy and accessibility
• Recommend improvements to data processes and drive those recommendations to completion
• Develop deep expertise in technology enablers supporting cybersecurity insights and analytics
• Document processes, organizational structures, architectures, and external systems
• Contribute to development and enhancement of solutions tied to key business outcomes
• Create interactive, visually appealing data visualizations that help uncover patterns, trends, and correlations across large datasets
• Provide guidance on capabilities and functionality of Power BI visualization tools
• Present to and educate diverse audiences on using visualizations and analytics outputs
• Actively use AI tools to improve speed, quality, and scale of work; demonstrate concrete workflows where AI adds value; critically evaluate and validate AI-generated output; and apply AI responsibly to protect confidential and customer data

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience (technical degree preferred)
• 8+ years of professional experience
• In-depth knowledge of IT concepts, strategies, and methodologies
• In-depth knowledge of diverse and emerging technologies and new architectural concepts and principles
• Knowledgeable in data engineering languages and tools, with proficiency in new and emerging technologies
• In-depth understanding of layered solutions and shared data engineering concepts, including security-minded design and product features
• In-depth understanding of business operations, objectives, and strategies, including global business and technology trends in the financial services industry
• Strong negotiation, consensus building and influencing skills, plus facilitation and adaptability to respond to change quickly
• Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including strong presentation ability
• Ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization
• Solid Python (Pandas) and SQL skills, with analytical and critical thinking, and an understanding of big data technology
• Understanding of machine learning principles, statistics, and algorithms
• Understanding of data warehouse solutions, modeling, and governance
• Working knowledge of AWS, Azure, and GCP cloud environments
• Power BI development using DAX and M query, plus Power BI gateway
• Snowflake administration experience
• AWS Airflow
• History of working with ETL (extract, transfer, and load) and data pipeline technology
• Proven experience in data modeling, governance, and analytics
• Ability to leverage and build APIs
• Python programming knowledge
• SQL query and data management experience
