Senior AI Engineer

This contract Senior AI Engineer role sits within the AI and Emerging Technologies team at a large broadcasting television network. The work spans researching and prototyping AI and agentic applications, then evaluating and deploying solutions as they scale toward production.

Based in New York, NY with onsite work, you will contribute to technical direction across AI-powered systems while partnering with AI Business Partners and cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and development across AI/ML technologies, architectures, and emerging capabilities.
• Design, prototype, and deploy AI, LLM, and agentic applications for proof-of-concept demonstrations and experimentation.
• Identify AI solutions that show promise and help transition them into production and scaling environments.
• Explore and advance capabilities across Traditional AI, Generative AI, and Agentic AI.
• Monitor emerging AI trends, technologies, tools, and industry developments, and support organizational adoption.
• Evaluate and pilot third-party AI solutions with attention to technical fit, scalability, security, and business value.
• Develop AI prototypes that inform future product development and commercialization.
• Support data preparation, data strategy, and synthetic data generation for AI experimentation and model development.
• Evaluate AI models and solutions for performance, safety, reliability, and operational readiness before production hand-off.
• Contribute to the architecture, design, and technical direction of AI-powered systems.
• Deploy, manage, and optimize AI workflows within cloud environments.
• Collaborate with AI Business Partners and cross-functional stakeholders to develop and implement AI initiatives and solutions.

Requirements

• Strong programming experience with Python, APIs, machine learning frameworks, and AI development tools.
• Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants and development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Codex, Claude Code, ChatGPT, or Microsoft Copilot.
• Experience building AI applications using LangChain and/or ADK.
• Hands-on experience with LLM platforms and models including OpenAI GPT, Google AI, and Claude.
• Strong understanding of embeddings, vector databases, and retrieval-based AI architectures.
• Experience designing, developing, managing, and integrating APIs.
• Strong knowledge of prompt engineering and optimization techniques.
• Experience with AI model evaluation, testing, experimentation, and model design.
• Solid understanding of AI architecture, system design, and scalable AI application development.
• Experience with data preparation, transformation, generation, and synthetic data strategies.
• Experience with cloud platforms and services, particularly AWS and/or GCP.
