Senior Generalist (Python, Data) Engineer - Healthcare AI Platform

Provectus is seeking a senior generalist to own and operate a production AI platform within a regulated enterprise setting. This hands-on role spans backend software, data engineering, DevOps, and cloud infrastructure, requiring autonomous ownership and end-to-end accountability. The position is remote and demands at least six years of practical experience building and sustaining production-grade systems.

Responsibilities

• Sustain, enhance, and extend a production AI platform already deployed in production
• Handle a mix of backend development, data engineering, DevOps, and infrastructure work
• Translate business and product requirements into technical decisions independently
• Collaborate directly with internal stakeholders and the teams that consume the platform
• Define and uphold engineering best practices for the platform
• Serve as the primary line of defense to identify and resolve technical issues

Requirements

• 6+ years of hands-on engineering experience with production systems
• Broad, generalist mindset comfortable across backend development, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure
• Robust production Python skills and solid software engineering fundamentals
• Hands-on experience with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, ECS, SQS, Bedrock, RDS or equivalents
• Experience with analytical data pipelines (SQL, Spark) and data processing at scale
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation)
• Experience with AI-assisted development workflows (Claude Code or alternatives), not just autocomplete
• Proven track record maintaining and scaling production systems, not only building POCs
• Autonomous working style, capable of determining next steps without explicit direction
• US-based candidate is required due to project compliance and data security constraints
