Job Description

Tesla is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to help shape predictive life models and ML workflows for its Energy and Charging products. This onsite role in Palo Alto involves working with some of the largest real-time data streams from testing, manufacturing, and fleet operations to enable prognostics and data-driven design actions across complex systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, train, and deploy predictive and control models that capture physical degradation, usage patterns, and overall system performance
  • Create robust, flexible automated tools to support advanced analyses of real-time fleet data
  • Design scalable and reliable data pipelines to productionize and monitor both new and existing models
  • Translate complex business requirements and research findings into actionable data-driven insights and solutions
  • Conduct ongoing research in AI/ML with a focus on physics-informed AI to rapidly test and prototype new ideas

Requirements

  • Strong production-quality Python coding skills, experience with major deep learning frameworks, and solid software engineering practices
  • Practical experience with C to integrate with firmware and drive projects toward shipped products
  • Expertise in handling and optimizing large datasets, data pipelines, and AI models
  • Solid understanding of linear algebra, probabilistic theory, numerical optimization, and deep learning with hands-on implementation
  • General knowledge of physics and engineering principles

Expected Compensation

The salary range is $100,000 to $270,000 per year, plus potential cash and stock awards and benefits. Pay offered may vary based on location, experience, and skills. The overall compensation package may include additional elements, which will be detailed with an offer of employment.
