Job Description

Waterbury is seeking a Tax Data Analyst to support accurate tax reporting and business decision-making through disciplined data collection, validation, and analysis. In this onsite Connecticut role, you will work with tax-related financial and operational datasets to ensure compliance and help uncover trends, risks, and process opportunities.

What You’ll Do

  • Collect, consolidate, and analyze tax-related data from financial, payroll, accounting, and operational systems.
  • Produce recurring and ad hoc tax reports, schedules, reconciliations, and supporting data analyses.
  • Validate tax data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Detect discrepancies, anomalies, and data integrity issues, then collaborate with the appropriate departments to resolve them.
  • Support federal, state, and local tax reporting and compliance activities.
  • Help prepare documentation and supporting schedules used for internal and external tax audits.
  • Analyze tax data to surface trends, variances, potential risks, and process improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain spreadsheets, dashboards, and reporting tools used for tax analysis and management reporting.
  • Partner with Finance, Accounting, Payroll, HR, and other teams to research and resolve tax-related data questions.
  • Maintain clear documentation of data sources, calculations, methodologies, and reporting processes.
  • Assist with tax-related projects, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor changes in tax requirements and help assess potential impacts to organizational processes and reporting.
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial, payroll, employee, and other sensitive information.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Economics, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in tax analysis, financial analysis, accounting, data analytics, payroll, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, formulas, lookups, and data validation.
  • Experience working with large and complex datasets.
  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy.
  • Ability to interpret financial and tax-related information and clearly communicate findings.
