Job Description

This AI Data Engineer role, based in King of Prussia, PA with remote options, supports AI and ML initiatives through scalable data pipelines and data warehouses, leveraging SAP HANA, cloud data services, and ontology/knowledge graph models.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, construct, and sustain secure data pipelines supporting classified AI/ML workloads
  • Create and deploy ontology-based data models to support knowledge representation and reasoning
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and mission stakeholders to deploy AI models and knowledge graphs into production
  • Institute robust data validation, lineage tracking, and governance controls aligned with security requirements
  • Partner with data architects and analysts to design end-to-end solutions across the data processing pipeline
  • Work with business stakeholders to develop and deploy data analytics solutions or custom software solutions, including leading teams to implement them
  • Improve performance and reliability of large-scale data systems in constrained environments
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote secure coding and engineering best practices
  • Acquire, ingest, process, and store large datasets from diverse sources and stakeholders
  • Conduct impact analyses covering data lineage and upstream/downstream dependencies
  • US Citizenship required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, including 3+ years supporting AI/ML systems with traditional BI and data warehousing concepts (ETL, data modeling, and reporting)
  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis and data/system architecture
  • Demonstrated ability to elicit requirements and understand business processes
  • Strong proficiency in Python, Apache NiFi, and SQL
  • Experience with distributed data processing frameworks (for example, Apache Spark)
  • Hands-on experience building ETL/ELT pipelines at scale
  • Familiarity with secure cloud environments (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Azure Government) or on-prem systems
  • Understanding of data security principles, including encryption and access control
  • Familiar with Safe Agile framework
