Applied AI Engineer, Beneficial Deployments (Life Sciences)
Job Description
Applied AI Engineer role on Anthropic’s Beneficial Deployments team, focused on maximizing Claude’s impact in life sciences through production deployments and reusable ecosystem tooling.
Responsibilities
- Partner with flagship life sciences research institutions by learning their scientific workflows end-to-end and working alongside their engineering teams to move from early exploration to production systems used in day-to-day science.
- Build reusable ecosystem infrastructure, including MCP servers for domain-specific data sources (genomics platforms, literature databases, experimental repositories), as well as instruments, scientifically-grounded benchmarks, and agent skills that other institutions can adopt.
- Investigate what makes life sciences AI deployment difficult, including heterogeneous data, auditability requirements, and the prototype-to-trust gap, then relay findings back to product, engineering, and research.
- Create technical content and documentation that enables partners to self-serve, helping proven approaches scale across institutions without the same level of ongoing hand-holding.
Requirements
- Deep research experience in life sciences, biomedical research, or scientific computing.
- Bonus: Coursework or study in genomics, neuroscience, or drug discovery, with comfort working at a deep technical level with academics.
- Experience building LLM-powered tools or applications, including prompting, context engineering, agent architectures, and evaluation frameworks.
- Proven builder credibility through shipping production code as a software engineer, forward-deployed engineer, or technical founder.
- Scrappy, multi-hat approach, including comfort building from scratch, driving clarity in ambiguous situations, and taking whatever steps are needed to further the mission.

- LLM-powered tools
- MCP servers
Benefits

- Optional equity donation matching
- Generous vacation and parental leave
- Flexible working hours
