Job Description
This Associate AI/ML Engineer role at iCapital focuses on building and scaling production-grade AI systems in a FinTech setting. The position involves designing, implementing, evaluating, and operating AI capabilities as APIs and services, with close collaboration alongside senior engineers and cross-functional partners.
Location and Work Setup
New York, NY (hybrid). Employees in this role work in the office Monday to Thursday, with flexibility to work remotely on Friday.
Salary
USD 100,000 - 130,000 per year.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement modular AI capabilities, including LLM-based reasoning, document intelligence (OCR/IDP), intelligent knowledge systems, and agentic orchestration to enable internal and external workflow automation.
- Own parts of the full AI system lifecycle to achieve measurable business outcomes, covering scoping, POC, solution design, model development, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement in production environments.
- Develop evaluation pipelines by defining statistically sound, problem-specific metrics, constructing and curating benchmark datasets, and applying strict dataset and model versioning to support reproducibility and ongoing iteration.
- Collaborate with teams and communicate findings clearly through documentation, written write-ups, and structured handoffs.
Required Qualifications
- 2-3 years of relevant experience, including hands-on work developing production AI/ML systems.
- Exposure to AWS or cloud-native development patterns for AI/ML workloads, along with familiarity with AI development lifecycle best practices.
- Strong Python proficiency.
- Solid foundations in statistics and exploratory data analysis, including the ability to assess data quality, run experiments, and analyze error patterns.
- Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to document work and collaborate in a team environment.
- Experience with modern LLM tooling (transformers, unsloth, vLLM, agentic frameworks) and/or document AI approaches (IDP).
- Knowledge of software development best practices such as source control, CI/CD, testing, and documentation, and experience working through a complete development lifecycle.
- Plus: familiarity with agentic communication protocols (MCP, A2A).
