Job Description

Support student-centered outcomes at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania as an Associate Data Analyst in Graduate Student Affairs. In this hybrid role in Philadelphia, PA, you will help collect, validate, and process data that informs strategic initiatives and evidence-based decision-making. You will report to the Director of Evaluation & Selection and work closely with a Data Scientist and a Lead Data Analyst.

This position offers a salary range of $62,067.00 - $77,000.00 per year and combines independent ownership with cross-office collaboration.

What you’ll do

  • Improve data collection methods by contributing to study design, survey administration, measurement instruments, and data management processes.
  • Run data quality assurance by validating datasets for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and integrity, and by identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Develop and maintain data documentation, including a data codebook, metadata, and records of data collection procedures.
  • Execute and monitor established data workflows, including running existing Python, R, SQL, and other automated scripts for recurring projects.
  • Process, transform, and prepare data for analysis.
  • Support institutional planning, assessment, and program evaluation by assisting with analysis, interpretation, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with staff across multiple offices to collect, manage, and coordinate data for a variety of projects.
  • Coordinate project timelines across offices to help ensure milestones and deliverables are met on schedule.
  • Communicate quantitative and technical concepts to broad, non-technical audiences, including senior management, and provide training and technical support to colleagues.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, contributing across multiple projects at once.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2-3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, including the ability and willingness to extract and process data from multiple sources with a focus on data integrity and quality issues.
  • Ability to use data to support operations, including communicating technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Understanding of FERPA parameters and data integrity.
  • Ability to complete work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
