Job Description

The BI Developer and Data Analyst at Star of the West Milling Co. is responsible for designing dashboards and KPI scorecards, building data models and ETL pipelines, and enabling data-driven decisions across Operations, Finance, Agronomy, and IT. The role requires integrating data from ERP and IoT sources, ensuring data quality, and delivering ad hoc analyses for stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain dashboards, reports, and KPI scorecards using Power BI or Tableau
  • Develop and sustain data models, data warehouses, and ETL pipelines
  • Integrate and analyze data from D365 F&O, agronomy systems, IoT devices, and external sources
  • Support traceability, quality, and food safety reporting across operations
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses and communicate findings to business stakeholders
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance across systems
  • Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Agronomy, and IT teams to support data-driven decisions
  • Provide backup IT technical support and basic troubleshooting to personnel to minimize downtime when primary IT services are unavailable

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or data engineering
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, ETL processes, and cloud-based data platforms
  • Experience working with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities
  • Familiarity with D365 F&O data entities, BYOD, or Azure-based integrations (preferred but not required)
  • Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis, automation, or scripting (preferred but not required)
  • Background or experience in agriculture, food processing, or supply chain analytics (preferred but not required)

Physical Demands

  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and via virtual platforms
  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while working on computers and dashboards
  • Frequent use of hands to operate a computer, keyboard, and office equipment
  • Ability to move about office and operational environments, including walking and standing during meetings or site visits
  • Ability to occasionally reach, bend, or navigate production or facility areas when gathering information or supporting operations
  • Ability to lift and move items up to 15–20 pounds occasionally
  • Vision abilities required include close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus for data review

Work Environment

  • Standard office conditions with extended periods of computer use, data analysis, and meetings
  • Occasional exposure to dust, grain particles, and other airborne materials when visiting milling, agronomy, or processing facilities
  • Varying indoor and outdoor conditions when traveling between locations, including heat, cold, and weather elements
  • Noise levels range from low in office settings to moderate in operational or processing areas
