Guidehouse is hiring a Data Scientist for a full-time, on-site role supporting data science activities at the NIH campus in Bethesda, MD or Baltimore, MD. In this position, you will help turn complex, real-world data into analytics and decision-support products for research and program objectives, with an emphasis on reproducible workflows and responsible handling of sensitive information.
This role supports analytical pipelines across acquisition, cleaning, transformation, integration, and statistical and machine learning modeling, followed by visualization and delivery to technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Collect, clean, integrate, and validate data from diverse sources, including research, clinical, operational, and public health systems.
- Work with multiple data formats and standards, including large and complex datasets.
- Support reproducible analytical pipelines through code development, model testing and validation, documentation, and quality assurance.
- Develop and maintain reproducible data pipelines, analytical workflows, and statistical models.
- Conduct exploratory, descriptive, predictive, and inferential analyses.
- Apply appropriate statistical and machine learning methods to support NIH research and program objectives.
- Create dashboards, visualizations, reports, and presentations for technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Collaborate with subject-matter experts, researchers, data engineers, program managers, and IT professionals.
- Support data governance, quality assurance, documentation, privacy, security, and responsible use of sensitive information.
- Contribute to the design of data standards, metadata, documentation, and reproducible research practices.
- Monitor analytical products and models for accuracy, performance, bias, and continued relevance.
- Stay current with emerging methods, tools, and best practices in data science, biomedical informatics, and public health analytics.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum of ONE (1) year of experience in data science, analytics, or research support.
- Experience using Python and/or R to acquire, clean, transform, analyze, and visualize data, including support for statistical analyses and machine learning models and development of reproducible analytical workflows.
- Familiarity with NLP, Generative AI, LLMs, time series analysis, or other advanced data science techniques.
- Strong skills in data analysis, data presentation, and documentation.
- Experience writing SOPs and contributing to technical or research documentation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD public trust; approved adjudication is required prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Active public trust or suitability is preferred.

What would be nice to have
- Background in computational simulation modeling or advanced analytical methods

Compensation: USD 65,000 - 108,000 per year. Education: Bachelor's degree. Job family: Scientist.
