Kaiser Permanente is hiring an R and Python Programmer / Data Scientist to support epidemiologic research through analytical programming, data management, quality control, and reporting. In this onsite role in Pasadena, CA, you will help transform large datasets into analytic-ready inputs and contribute to data analysis, visualization, and automated reporting solutions.
Salary: USD 87,200 - 112,750 per year
Schedule: Full-time, Day shift, Monday through Friday (40 hours/week), 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM
Travel: Yes, 5% of the time

What you will do
- Complete assignments by applying up-to-date subject knowledge to meet deadlines, following procedures and policies, and using data and resources to support projects.
- Collaborate with others, often cross-functionally, to solve business problems, communicate progress and information, and recommend improvement opportunities when possible, escalating issues as needed.
- Organize and edit reports and presentations to support interpretation of data analysis and help stakeholders make informed decisions.
- Under guidance from more senior employees, support data-informed decisions by working with clients to identify and clarify business needs, assisting with outcomes and process measures, and translating business requirements into data needs.
- Gather targeted variables using a systematic approach, including cleaning and organizing data, querying, merging, and extracting data across sources, completing routine data refresh and updates, and providing user support and documentation.
- Support analytic preparation by cleaning data to ensure quality and accuracy based on provided guidelines, and consolidating datasets.
- Assist with execution of analytical approaches that lead to actionable outcomes by organizing metrics to analyze, calculating algorithms, performing basic analyses, and preparing descriptive statistics under guidance.
- Contribute to business and reporting solution development by creating summary statistics, preparing data reports and visualizations and/or interactive BI reports, identifying opportunities to improve existing reporting, and preparing documentation.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year experience programming with SAS, SQL, R or another similar analytical programming language.
- Bachelorβs degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Social/Physical/Life Science, Business, or related field OR minimum 2 years experience in data analytics or a directly related field.
