Job Description

The Gaw Lab at UCSF is hiring a part-time Research Data Analyst in San Francisco, CA (onsite). The position supports work on studies examining maternal-fetal immune responses through data collection, preparation, analysis, and ongoing reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Under direct supervision, carry out basic statistical and data analysis tasks.
  • Collect research data and prepare it for downstream analysis.
  • Support study design activities, including assistance with proposals and survey instruments.
  • Assist with testing of research instruments and data sources.
  • Contribute to preparation of reports and analysis for internal constituents.
  • Help evaluate and research data reporting products.
  • Develop knowledge related to storage, documentation, and dissemination of computerized data.
  • Attend virtual team meetings, including scheduled and impromptu sessions.
  • Provide detailed weekly reports.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. computational sciences, statistics, data science, bioinformatics) and/or at least 3 months of equivalent experience or training.
  • Demonstrated acquisition of research function knowledge.
  • Ability to perform research analysis duties.
  • Acquiring or demonstrating statistical analysis, systems programming, and database design skills to support research analysis.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and complete assigned project components by set deadlines.
  • Excellent consultation and communication skills.
  • Prior experience with R and/or Python.
  • Ability to manage a flexible work schedule.
  • Prior experience analyzing “-omics” data.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, including deadlines sometimes on short notice (for example, less than 2 days).
  • Willingness to use communication systems such as Slack for team communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of basic statistical methods applied in clinical research and computational biology.

Education
