Job Description

Robert Half is seeking an experienced Data Analyst for a contract opportunity in Cedar Rapids, IA (onsite). In this role, you will support enterprise reporting and analytics by translating business reporting needs into dependable, data-driven solutions through validation, testing, and close partnership with both business and technical teams.

What you’ll do

  • Partner with business stakeholders to capture reporting objectives, clarify analytical needs, and ensure requirements are complete and actionable.
  • Translate business goals into structured data specifications that enable report development, analytics design, and downstream technical work.
  • Review datasets from multiple sources to surface data quality issues, inconsistencies, and opportunities to improve reporting accuracy.
  • Plan and execute validation and testing to confirm reporting outputs are accurate, dependable, and aligned with business expectations.
  • Perform data mapping, trace how data moves across systems, and define relationships among source elements for analysis and reporting.
  • Support user acceptance testing by documenting issues, coordinating follow-up, and helping drive resolution of defects or data discrepancies.
  • Contribute to enterprise analytics initiatives by identifying insights that improve reporting processes and data usability for decision support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot reporting and data challenges across relational and cloud-based environments.

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with relational databases and an understanding of data warehousing principles.
  • Strong SQL skills for analysis, validation, and resolution of data-related issues.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Redshift or a comparable cloud data platform.
  • Experience using Power BI or similar business intelligence and data visualization tools.
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities in data-focused environments.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with both technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Prior experience supporting testing, user acceptance activities, and data quality efforts is preferred.
