Data Engineer- Senior Software Engineer – Data, Analytics and AI

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development of the next generation cloud platform for data, analytics, AI, and machine learning.
• Conduct research, analysis, design, and development across a broad spectrum of advanced data capabilities and products.
• Establish technical standards and create reusable frameworks to ensure consistent and scalable data capabilities and products.
• Own the technical aspects of Service Provider deliverables and guide their resources to ensure high quality, standards compliance, and scalable outcomes.
• Explore emerging AI technologies to enable future capabilities and address complex technical challenges.
• Make decisions on complex, non routine requests to support analytics driven decisioning by Marriott business teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands on experience developing large scale data ETL pipelines and enterprise grade applications.
• 2+ years of experience in technical delivery ownership for large scale data pipelines and applications on AWS cloud technologies and the Snowflake data platform.
• Strong technical leadership with proven ability to lead Service Provider technical resources.
• Strong communication skills.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related Engineering.

Candidate Profile

• Technology certifications in Snowflake and AWS.
• Experience with Airflow, Python, and API calls.
• Experience with data governance, privacy, and data quality techniques.
• Experience in agile software methodologies.

• Technical Leadership: Trains and mentors other team members and peers as appropriate; liaises with multiple teams to steer projects from inception to successful delivery; identifies opportunities to enhance service delivery processes.
• Delivering Technology: Performs complex quantitative and qualitative analyses for service delivery processes and projects; facilitates achievement of deliverables and obligations of Service Providers; validates completeness of requirements prior to solutioning.
• IT Governance: Follows defined IT standards and processes; maintains a balance between business and operational risk; escalates risks when needed; adheres to project management standards.
• Service Provider Management: Validates that Service Providers manage project plans, schedules, deliverables, and metrics; plans short term resource utilization; monitors outcomes; reviews estimates for accuracy; facilitates timely resolution of service delivery problems to minimize client impact.
