Job Description

Join Louisiana State University of Alexandria and support official university reporting with trusted analysis, dashboards, and data tools. This onsite Data Analyst role helps stakeholders use accurate data for student success, operational efficiency, assessment, and planning.

What you’ll do

Use university data to produce required reports and deliver data insights, trends, and analyses to departments across academic, student support, and administrative areas. You will also coordinate state and federal reporting responsibilities, manage ad hoc data requests, and contribute to data accessibility through dashboards and online tools.

  • Provide accurate data and reports to university departments to support student success and operational efficiency.
  • Write programming scripts to improve functionality and performance of university applications as needed.
  • Partner with IET Services and other university offices to support data governance and protect data integrity in university systems.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including data definitions, code documentation, and standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinate required state and federal data reporting, including submissions to the Louisiana Board of Regents, National Student Clearinghouse, and IPEDS.
  • Respond to internal and external ad hoc requests for university data.
  • Support data needs for assessment, program review, strategic planning, accreditation, and related activities.
  • Research, analyze, and interpret university data and trends to enable data-driven decisions.
  • Build dashboards and other online data tools to improve access for university stakeholders.

Skills and experience required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Decision Science/Analytics, Business Administration, Applied Statistics, or a related field, or at least five (5) years of experience in a database or systems analyst related field, preferably in higher education.
  • Candidates with 3–5 years of experience in Institutional Research in higher education are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices.
  • Extensive data analysis experience using R, SPSS, SAS, Tableau, PowerBI, and/or similar tools (required).
  • Extensive programming and scripting experience, including Microsoft SQL and Python (required), and/or similar languages.
  • Ability to design, develop, and manage relational database systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with ERP, SIS, and CRM system programming and reporting (preferred).
  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with extreme attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.

Schedule and hiring notes

  • Office hours: Eight (8) hours per day, Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week. Additional hours as needed.
