Data Analyst
Job Description
Join a team supporting strategic decision-making through data analysis, reporting, and data handling.
Responsibilities
- Extract, compile, validate, model, and analyze data to produce meaningful reports for end users.
- Use data to build clear narratives, improve processes, and pursue answers for complex challenges.
- Manipulate and analyze large, often disorderly datasets, working independently or as part of a collaborative team.
- Partner with internal and external groups to design and execute analytic studies for business and research questions.
- Manage multiple tasks while meeting time constraints and user requirements.
- Collaborate with contractors, vendor representatives, and internal department team members.
- Prepare reports and visualizations using SQL, SSRS, MS Excel, Tableau, and/or other tools, drawing from medical, pharmacy, provider, clinical, and claims data sources.
- Present findings and reports to internal and external audiences.
- Apply strategic thinking to improve data-related functions, support continuous improvement, and identify automation opportunities.
- Select effective approaches for extracting and presenting complex datasets and information.
- Investigate root causes to resolve data questions or data discrepancies.
- Maintain strong organization, critical thinking, and attention to detail across all duties.
- Produce precise written documentation and presentations that support informed management decisions.
- Work with internal teams on assigned projects and act as a consultant for system requirements and data needs.
- Apply extensive knowledge of healthcare data, metrics, systems, and standards.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of desktop processes.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Maintain punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation, and the ability to remain calm and courteous under pressure.
- Follow direction from the manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
- 1 to 3 years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced skills working with hardware, software, support, and management of computer systems, with strong adaptability to newer applications.
- Advanced skills working with programming and networking computer software and systems.
