Job Description

Tetra Tech is hiring a Data Analyst to support disaster-related debris operations, with a focus on maintaining data quality for clients impacted by emergencies. This contract role begins with entry-level analyst work centered on data entry, reconciliation, reporting, and organized documentation, with the possibility to progress into broader disaster recovery responsibilities as experience grows.

What you’ll do

  • Analyze project data using tools including Microsoft Excel and Power BI.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control for project data.
  • Generate daily reports covering project metrics, work completion, and cost.
  • Maintain digital file organization for project documents.
  • Coordinate with a field team to relay key project information and support data accuracy.
  • Complete client data inquiries as requested by project management.
  • Use reading comprehension to interpret and apply federal policies to project data.

Requirements

  • High technical proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to use Power BI or similar business analysis software.
  • Must be available for short-term travel to support on-site client needs, and for an extended deployment of 90+ days to address client response and long-term recovery needs following emergencies and major disasters (especially if the candidate is not local to the affected area).
  • Ability to work with a large team of individuals.
  • Ability to understand and apply FEMA program policies and guidance.

Preferred qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Role progression

The position is expected to change and progress as experience is acquired. Every employee starts as an entry-level analyst to build understanding of required tasks, including data entry and reconciliation, project reporting, and file organization. Individuals demonstrating extreme competency in assigned tasks may be given the opportunity to take on a larger role in the disaster recovery process, including communication with clients and/or FEMA representatives.

Physical requirements

  • Ability to work remotely at a computer for extended periods.
  • Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through phone, video, email, and other electronic platforms.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and understand English (verbal and written).
  • May occasionally need to sit, stand, walk, bend, or lift light office materials.

Work environment

  • Remote role subject to company policies and project requirements.
  • Standard schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Project assignments may be modified or reassigned based on evolving business needs, client requirements, staffing levels, operational priorities, or other business considerations.

This temporary position is on an “as needed” basis and will end. Employment is understood to be on an at-will basis.
