Job Description

The Data Analyst, Senior role supports provider contract negotiations and competitive intelligence by assessing health, performance, and strategic positioning of contracted entities. This position focuses on analytics that inform network planning and contract strategy, including reporting, dashboard management, and investigation of key trends and anomalies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and conduct evaluations and studies within limited time frames, producing analyses that are clear for non-technical audiences.
  • Assist in identifying systems and operational problems and recommend solutions to streamline procedures for more effective reporting.
  • Work with internal and external customers to define complex reporting needs, including specifications, and design and implement complex report programming accordingly.
  • Present analytics, reports, and presentations effectively to internal and external customers to support business continuity and decision making.
  • Participate in internal and external task forces and committees, contributing analytical insights for implementation of new programs, applications, products, and services and enhancements to existing systems.
  • Create dossiers for provider negotiations, including analyses of financial, regulatory, and quality performance.
  • Lead and manage projects that may require coordinating a team and working with multiple stakeholders.
  • Manage reporting and dashboards supporting SVP network planning, including data validation, testing, and documentation.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and automation.
  • Complete Ad Hoc assignments as requested.

Required and Preferred Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree or High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Master’s Degree (MPH, MBA, MS, or MA) is preferred.
  • Requires 5 years of experience in Health Care (managed care, academic, or gov't payer).
  • Experience with MS Office, especially Excel and Access, Unix, SQL/PL-SQL, and SAS.
  • SAS Base and advanced certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with visualization tools such as Tableau.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills, including prior experience presenting to leaders.
  • Practical knowledge of project management is preferred.

Work Location and Hybrid Schedule

  • Location: Long Beach, CA (hybrid).
  • This role requires employees to be in-office based on the hybrid workplace model, balancing purposeful in-person collaboration with flexibility.
  • For most teams, this means coming into the office two days each week.
  • Employees living more than 50 miles from an office location will work with their manager to determine in-office time based on business need.

Compensation

USD 90,860 - 136,290 per year.
