Job Description

This Data Analyst for Parks and Recreation role supports data analysis, asset management and digital transformation for the City of Fort Myers Parks and Recreation Department, based in Edison, FL (onsite).

Responsibilities

  • Under the general direction of the Parks and Beautification Manager, coordinates activities to facilitate the preparation and completion of department projects.
  • Performs data analysis in alignment with City policies and applicable laws.
  • Collects and analyzes data, develops alternatives to resolve problems, and presents findings through graphs, narratives and presentations.
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
  • Prepares project management data analysis in support of capital improvement projects.
  • Supports the implementation of asset management and computerized maintenance management software.
  • Supports the department’s digital transformation, including leading the deployment and refinement of the Lucity software system.
  • Assists with preparation and administration of the operational budget to meet divisional goals, including monitoring and tracking revenues and expenses and implementing necessary changes.
  • Coordinates special projects as needed.
  • Prepares agenda items for City Council approval.
  • Responds to public inquiries.
  • Submits the South Florida Water Management District quarterly use report.
  • Operates a vehicle when required.
  • This position requires regular and reliable attendance and the employee’s physical presence at the workplace.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared emergency, which may involve around-the-clock work for several days on short notice.
  • Non-Essential Employees will not be required to work during a declared emergency; the Department Head will determine when involvement is needed.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in both positive and challenging situations.
  • Skill in tracking and managing projects.
  • Skill in collecting, analyzing and interpreting data.
  • Ability to operate necessary equipment, including a personal computer, mainframe terminal, calculator, copier, facsimile machine and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to apply sound judgment and interpretation in circumstances with limited standardization based on acquired knowledge.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
