Job Description

Tesla is seeking a Data Analyst to support Material Planning with supply chain analytics, onsite in Lathrop, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain tools, dashboards, and platforms delivering end-to-end visibility into supply and demand planning across multiple tiers of the supply chain
  • Design and run supply simulations to identify gating points, forecast risk, and support proactive decision-making by planning and GSM teams
  • Create and manage automated data pipelines for daily workflow orchestration, data extraction, transformation, and reporting
  • Automate daily operational workflows to reduce manual steps and drive excellence across Material Planning, GSM, and Component GSM teams
  • Query and analyze large-scale datasets using SQL to uncover supply chain trends, exceptions, and actionable insights
  • Develop Python-based automation scripts and data processing pipelines for data extraction, transformation, reporting, and simulation modeling
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Demand Planning, Material Planning, GSMs, Component GSM, Systems teams, and regional stakeholders to align analytics with operational priorities
  • Support leadership with dashboards, ad-hoc analyses, supply risk assessments, and quarterly operational summaries
  • Independently manage multiple analytical projects, platform builds, and data support requests, ensuring objectives and deadlines are met
  • Partner with IT and Systems teams to define system requirements and participate in the software development lifecycle from design to deployment and user acceptance testing

Requirements

  • Degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Engineering, Supply Chain, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Economics) or equivalent experience, with 2+ years in supply chain analytics, demand/supply planning, or related analytical roles
  • Strong proficiency in SQL for querying large datasets
  • Experience with Python for data analysis, automation, and pipeline development (examples include pandas and NumPy)
  • Ability to analyze complex data, run simulations, and present findings clearly and concisely
  • Experience building and maintaining automated data pipelines and workflow orchestration using Apache Airflow or similar tools
  • Collaborative, flexible working style with the ability to build trust across planning, GSM, and systems teams
  • Experience building frontend tools and platforms using React and JSS is highly preferred
  • Experience creating dashboards and visualizations using Tableau or similar tools is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with multi-tier planning, gating analysis, and supply/demand balancing is a strong plus

What to Expect

In this role you will be the analytics lead for the Material Planning team, serving as the primary expert for supply and demand planning analytics, multi-tier visibility, and operational reporting. You will build tools, platforms, and automated pipelines that provide real-time visibility into gating supply chains, enable supply simulations, and drive operational excellence across planning workflows.

Expected Compensation

Salary range of $62,640 to $113,400 per year, plus cash and stock awards and benefits. Pay offered may vary based on location, knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package may include additional elements dependent on the position offered; details will be provided with an offer.
