Job Description

Data Engineer on the PV Global Brand Insights team at Amazon.com Services LLC, focused on building robust data pipelines and generating insights to help Prime Video understand and deliver value to customers. Location: New York, NY onsite. Salary: USD 101,300 - 160,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Design and optimize data models and pipelines to handle complex global datasets
  • Ensure ongoing data quality and provide self service access to datasets for business intelligence, AI tools, and Model Context Protocols (MCP)
  • Enhance metadata to improve AI results
  • Collaborate with research program leads, data scientists, BI engineers, and fellow data engineers to maintain stable, high-performing data solutions
  • Develop secure, reliable, testable, and maintainable code with minimal defects
  • Apply suitable data design strategies and make thoughtful trade-offs without over-engineering
  • Optimize resource usage across hardware, data storage, query performance, and AWS infrastructure
  • Actively participate in code reviews, design discussions, and roadmap planning
  • Diagnose root causes of complex problems while balancing stakeholder requirements with team priorities
  • Stay current on innovations in the field, including ways that AI can enhance data analysis and visualization for stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain automated reporting and dashboards to provide visibility into brand, marketing, and social performance and enable self-service insights

Requirements

  • 2+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
  • Proficiency with one or more query languages such as SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, or Scala
  • Proficiency with one or more scripting languages such as Python or KornShell
  • Knowledge of data schema design concepts, including normalization and the distinction between relational and dimensional models
  • Understanding of professional software engineering practices across the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, architectures, code reviews, source control, continuous deployment, testing, and operational excellence
  • Experience using BI tools like Tableau or Adobe to visualize data

Our work spans multiple countries to identify universal customer truths while also capturing local nuance by partnering with in-country insights leads.
