Data Engineer (Client Server) - Senior

Cherokee Strategic Edge is seeking a senior Data Engineer to support defense analytics with enhanced scientific research and to contribute to an integrated all-source assessment of foreign defense capabilities for warfighters, planners, and policymakers. This position requires access to sensitive information and the ability to obtain a Counterintelligence polygraph.

Clearance and Citizenship

This role is restricted to U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents due to government contract requirements. You must provide documentation proving your U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status to qualify. The position requires an active TS/Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI) clearance with the ability to obtain a Counterintelligence polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate data management systems to support intelligence needs.
• Define how data is stored, accessed, used, integrated, and managed across different data regimes and digital systems.
• Collaborate with data users to determine, create, and populate optimal data architectures, structures, and systems.
• Plan, design, and optimize data throughput and query performance.
• Assist in selecting backend database technologies (for example SQL, NoSQL, HPC), configure and utilize them, and optimize the full data pipeline to support content, volume, ETL, and data cadence for the intended queries and analyses.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Experience, Education, Skills and Abilities

• Current TS/SCI with the ability to obtain a counterintelligence polygraph.
• Minimum of 12 years of related experience, with a portion of that experience within the last 2 years preferred.
• Master’s Degree in a related field preferred.
• In-depth knowledge of labor category activities necessary to meet mission requirements.
• Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
• Strong aptitude for communicating complex information that may be incomplete, indirect, highly complex, seemingly unrelated, or technically advanced.
• Proven ability to collaborate with other IC members on information sharing, driving collection, and resolving analytic disputes.
• Demonstrated ability to develop concise, insightful, and comprehensive products for defense intelligence.
• Experience guiding teams in researching multifaceted or critical problems.
• Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation is commensurate with experience. Estimated starting salary range for this Data Engineer position is $150,000 to $170,000. This is a full-time role with benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other potential benefits. Benefits are subject to change.
