Data Engineer I
Job Description
This role is with Amazon.com Services LLC on the OTS Data ANCHOR team, focused on building scalable data infrastructure and ETL/ELT pipelines to enable AI-driven operational and business insights across Amazon's global fulfillment and operations. This is an onsite position based in Austin, Texas.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain production-grade ETL/ELT pipelines and large-scale data infrastructure to support OTS operational intelligence.
- Contribute to data governance and quality standards across analytical and ML data products.
- Support the implementation of automated reporting, diagnostics, predictive analytics, and prescriptive analytics.
- Develop and maintain semantic layers and dashboard data models that inform worldwide operations decisions.
- Collaborate with Program Managers, BI teams, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, and operational stakeholders to prioritize work aligned with OTS business goals.
- Adhere to and contribute to data engineering best practices, including code reviews, testing, monitoring, and documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Management, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or current progress toward such a degree.
- Experience as a data engineer or in a related role (e.g., software engineer, BI engineer, data scientist) with a track record of manipulating, processing, and deriving value from large datasets.
- 1+ years of experience analyzing and interpreting data with tools such as Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, etc.
- Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines.
- Proficiency with one or more query languages (SQL, PL/SQL, DDL, MDX, HiveQL, SparkSQL, Scala).
- Proficiency with one or more scripting languages (Python, KornShell).
- Knowledge of general AI tools.
