Compensation Overview
The annual base salary range shown here reflects a nationwide market range for this role and encompasses a broad spectrum of salaries across the country. The actual starting pay will be determined by factors such as the scope and complexity of the role, the candidate’s skills, education, credentials, experience, and other conditions of employment. In addition to base pay, employees are eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards as part of our compensation and benefits program.
Salary Range: $126,500.00 - $208,700.00

What Is the Opportunity?
Travelers data engineering teams build pipelines that contextualize data and make it readily accessible across the enterprise. As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in expanding and modernizing our analytics landscape. Bring a curious mindset and the ability to translate data insights into actionable outcomes using a range of data programming techniques. You will design, construct, and deploy data solutions that capture, explore, transform, and utilize data to support Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and business intelligence insights.
What Will You Do?
- Build and operationalize complex data solutions, address problems, apply transformations, and recommend data cleansing and quality improvements.
- Design intricate data solutions.
- Analyze complex sources to determine value and applicability, and recommend data to include in analytical processes.
- Incorporate core data management competencies including data governance, data security and data quality.
- Collaborate within and across teams to support delivery and educate end users on complex data products and analytic environments.
- Perform data and system analysis, assessment and resolution for complex defects and incidents and correct as appropriate.
- Test data movement, transformation code, and data components.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field or equivalent
- Eight years of related experience
- Databricks (including integration with DBT and Unity Catalog)
- Databricks Genie
- Ab Initio
- Snowflake
- AI (Claude Code)
- TeraData
- API development and integration into Data Pipelines
- Highly proficient use of tools, techniques, and data manipulation including cloud platforms and modern software engineering practices
- The ability to deliver work at a steady, predictable pace to meet commitments, deliver complete solutions in small batches, and navigate important tradeoffs
- Demonstrated domain expertise with deep knowledge of immediate systems and awareness of adjacent systems
- Strong problem solving to ensure long lasting systems and innovative issue resolution
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and business partners
- Ability to lead team members and foster a safe environment for learning and growth as engineers, with a proven track record of self motivation to identify opportunities and track team efforts
What is a Must Have?
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related STEM field, or its equivalent in education and/or work experience
- 4 additional years of data engineering experience
