Data Engineer II, AWS Sustainability Technology
Job Description
Data Engineer II, AWS Sustainability Technology, based in Seattle, WA (onsite), responsible for designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data pipelines and models that power sustainability measurement across AWS, integrating LCA, MFA, carbon allocation, and service-level sustainability profiles with a focus on data quality and production-ready data products.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain large-scale data pipelines and models to support sustainability metrics across AWS, including life-cycle assessments, material flow analysis, carbon allocation, and service-level sustainability profiles
- Collaborate with research and applied scientists to productionize sustainability models such as LCA, MFA, and Scope 3 into automated, production-grade systems
- Develop and maintain data products for the AWS Supplier database to enable sustainability-informed procurement and supply chain decisions
- Establish the data infrastructure for Service Sustainability Profiles (SSP) to measure and attribute environmental impact at the service level for AWS teams and customers, with granular carbon data
- Own data quality, lineage, and trust to ensure outputs meet third-party assurance and customer-facing reporting standards
- Contribute to the Sustainability Data Platform (SDP), building scalable data infrastructure across Circular Economy, Scope 3, and Net Zero workstreams
- Support the evolution toward decision intelligence by creating self-service data products that shorten the path from sustainability questions to grounded answers
Requirements
- 3+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with AWS technologies such as Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
- Experience with non-relational databases or data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, or column-family databases)

Compensation
Annual salary range: USD 132,100 - 178,800 per year.
