Data Engineer (Mid–Senior Level)
Job Description
Smart Meter LLC is seeking a hands-on Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain data pipelines and systems that support analytics, reporting, and operational workflows. This mid-senior level role emphasizes strong SQL and Python skills, a focus on data quality, and scalable infrastructure, with the position based onsite in Tampa, Florida.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines that ingest data from internal systems and external APIs.
- Create Python based data processing workflows to extract, transform, and load structured data across systems.
- Optimize SQL queries, database schemas, indexes, and transformations to support analytics and operations.
- Integrate data across PostgreSQL, MySQL, and data warehouse platforms.
- Support batch and real time data pipelines to ensure reliable and timely data processing.
- Implement validation, monitoring, and alerting to maintain data quality and pipeline reliability.
- Troubleshoot data pipeline failures, data inconsistencies, and performance issues.
- Collaborate with engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders to deliver dependable data solutions.
- Develop analytics ready datasets to support business intelligence, reporting, and data driven decisions.
- Design scalable data models and warehouse schemas to support analytics and downstream applications.
- Automate and orchestrate data workflows and pipeline processes to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Contribute to data platform standards, documentation, and engineering best practices across the data ecosystem.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in data engineering, data platform engineering, or related roles.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and relational databases.
- Experience building data pipelines and automation using Python.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar relational databases.
- Experience integrating data from multiple systems and APIs.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working in production data environments with high reliability requirements.
- Experience with GitHub or similar version control systems.
- Experience with data streaming technologies such as Kafka or similar.
