- Salary: USD 121,785 - 197,200 per year
- Minimum experience: 1 year
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or related field
- Series/Grade potential: Roles may be filled at GS-13, GS-14, or GS-15 across NASA organizations
Responsibilities
- Designs, validates, and sustains data architectures including databases and large-scale processing systems
- Develops and oversees data pipelines to enable efficient collection, storage, and processing of large datasets
- Ensures data is accessible and usable for analysis to support data-driven decision making
- Integrates, analyzes, and interprets complex data sets to produce data-driven organizational solutions
- Performs data extraction through programming without predefined specifications
- Creates statistical software and code to analyze statistical data and derive findings
- Analyzes business requirements and user needs
- Collaborates with subject-matter experts to develop statistical models and analytics
- Formulates and tests hypotheses and methods to address key challenges
- Acts as a technical authority in data science, operations research, master data management, and data analytics
- Applies analytical, statistical, mathematical, and econometric methods to inform outcomes of proposed actions
- For supervisory roles, performs the full range of supervisory duties, including assigning and evaluating work, recommending personnel actions, enforcing disciplinary actions, and identifying training needs
Requirements
- Minimum education: Bachelor's degree or higher in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or related field
- GS-13 qualification: One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to GS-12, such as assisting in constructing, testing, or maintaining databases, data models, or data processing systems using established methods and tools to support analytical activities and organizational decision-making
- GS-14 qualification: One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to GS-13, such as constructing, testing, or maintaining databases, data models, and large-scale or distributed data processing systems to enable reliable data accessibility, integration, and analysis in support of data-driven organizational decision-making
- GS-15 qualification: One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to GS-14, such as leading the design, development, testing, or modernization of enterprise-level data architectures to support analytical capabilities and strategic decision-making by architecting solutions, ensuring interoperability across organizational systems, and providing authoritative technical guidance on data infrastructure design and optimization

- Direct Hire Authority applies; category rating and veterans' preference are not considered in the evaluation process
