Job Description
Mastercard’s Cyber Analytics team within Security Solutions Data Science applies advanced analytics to fraud detection and cybersecurity decision-making. In this onsite role in New York, NY, you will build predictive and machine learning solutions that connect cybersecurity signals with transaction data, turning insights into scalable capabilities across the Mastercard network.
What you’ll do
- Build subject matter expertise in web application security, commonly exploited cyber vulnerabilities, and methods of online and payment card fraud, including points of purchase for compromised cards.
- Develop and maintain innovative data-driven analytical solutions, including predictive models and machine learning algorithms, using large-scale data to support analytics and reporting across products, markets, and services.
- Work confidently with large datasets to identify patterns and trends, then translate those findings into technical rules and solutions.
- Integrate cybersecurity and transaction data to create new views of fraud and vulnerability across the Mastercard network.
- Partner with cross-functional teams across product, engineering, and operations to understand product and usage context, data pipelines, and to deliver scalable solutions.
- Convert client and stakeholder needs into technical analyses and solutions, and communicate results and business impact to senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Design metrics to monitor product usage, model performance, and other outcomes that support increased engagement and an improved security landscape.
What you bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field.
- Strong data science experience, ideally in payments or cybersecurity.
- Experience building statistical and machine learning models in Python, plus work with distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Databricks.
- Experience with data management and data mining using SQL, including performance optimization, data pipeline development, and quantitative analysis.
- Self-driven approach to problem solving, with high energy and a flexible, collaborative working style.
- Strong organization and time management.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Passion for cybersecurity, along with a deep interest in learning new tools, threat vectors, attack techniques, technologies, and best practices to prevent cybersecurity incidents.
- Previous experience with graph database and graph machine learning, including graph neural networks.

Pay range: New York City, New York: $110,000 - $176,000 USD per year.
