Director, Data Scientist - Global Payment Network
Job Description
Lead data science and machine learning efforts for scalable intelligence across the payments ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver customer-focused products
- Apply a broad technology stack including Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, and Spark to extract insights from large volumes of numeric and textual data
- Develop machine learning models across the full lifecycle: design, training, evaluation, validation, and implementation
- Translate technical work into tangible business goals using strong interpersonal and communication skills
Requirements
- One of the following education plus analytics experience (degree expected by the scheduled start date): Bachelor’s in a quantitative field plus 9 years of experience performing data analytics
- One of the following education plus analytics experience (degree expected by the scheduled start date): Master’s in a quantitative field, or an MBA with quantitative concentration, plus 7 years of experience performing data analytics
- One of the following education plus analytics experience (degree expected by the scheduled start date): PhD in a quantitative field plus 4 years of experience performing data analytics
- At least 4 years leveraging open source programming languages for large scale data analysis
- At least 4 years working with machine learning
- At least 4 years utilizing relational databases
Technology

Team
- The Global Payment Network Data Solutions and Modeling team builds machine learning and AI agents to deliver foundational, scalable intelligence for smarter business decisions across the payments ecosystem
- Creates models and AI tools to support fraud/risk, merchant acceptance, merchant intelligence, and monitoring
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive multi-project experience leading data science solutions in payments, financial services, or fintech
- At least 1 year of experience working with AWS
- At least 3 years of experience managing people
- At least 5 years of experience in Python, Scala, or R for large scale data analysis
- At least 5 years of experience with machine learning
Role Location & Compensation
- Location: Riverwoods, IL (onsite)
- Salary: USD 209,500 - 239,100 per year
