Data Scientist
Job Description
SAIC is seeking a Data Scientist to support the USPACOM J7 Directorate from Camp Smith, Hawaii (onsite). The position focuses on managing large datasets to produce actionable insights while ensuring data integrity and accuracy, including the integration of AI into joint exercise programs.
Responsibilities
- Represent the J7 Directorate’s interests in high-level battle rhythm forums, ensuring strategic objectives align with command-wide priorities.
- Lead integration of AI within the Joint Exercise Program to modernize training methodologies and readiness.
- Manage J7 data science initiatives end-to-end, coordinating technical development teams with leadership priorities to support on-time delivery of mission-critical data solutions.
- Develop and deploy predictive models, algorithms, and real-time support systems to improve operational efficiency and deliver actionable insights.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to identify data-driven opportunities, conduct research, apply emerging technologies, and refine dashboards for stakeholder communications.
- Architect and maintain reliable data models and schemas that support scalable enterprise-level data pipelines.
- Work with subject matter experts to identify relevant data insights and strengthen analytical approaches.
- Lead data discovery, ingestion, and governance activities across J7 to create a unified, secure, and accessible data ecosystem.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and two (2)+ years of experience; additional four years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Experience in data science and/or analytics roles.
- Strong programming skills in Python, JavaScript, and SQL.
- Extensive experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or comparable platforms.
- Practical knowledge of statistical techniques, machine learning, and data science methodologies.
- Solid engineering foundation, including knowledge of software architecture and software engineering principles.
- Knowledge of Agile software development practices.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, especially Microsoft Azure.
- Experience working with containerized applications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
- Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TSSCI.
- Must be a current U.S. citizen.

Compensation
