Job Description
The Data Scientist I position within the LexisNexis Insurance Division participates in the two-year Data Science Accelerator Program (DSAP), designed to build broad analytics capability through rotating work on analytical product development projects. The role is hybrid based in Alpharetta, GA and may include some travel.
About the Program and Role
Data Scientist I (DSAP) supports a structured learning experience across the Data Science organization within the Insurance Analytics team. Over two years, the program provides opportunities to rotate through Analytical product development related assignments and projects, with an emphasis on holistic learning of the business while applying data science methods in practice.
This hybrid role is located at the headquarters in Alpharetta, GA, and may include some travel.
Responsibilities
- Assist with assembling, cleaning, and organizing large datasets to prepare them for analysis.
- Support team members in merging and parsing data to uncover trends and patterns.
- Learn to apply statistical and machine learning techniques under the guidance of senior data scientists.
- Help document model code, track results, and contribute to validating predictive models.
- Assist in creating attributes and rules from raw data to support analytic projects.
- Contribute to data visualization efforts to communicate findings.
- Participate in preparing responses to client inquiries regarding data, score calculations, or analytic outputs.
- Document work clearly and practice presenting results in a team setting.
Requirements
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in data science/analytics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or related fields (including Engineering, Economics, and Business).
- Have coursework or project experience in Python or R; SQL familiarity is a plus.
- Maintain an interest in data analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning.
- Exposure to data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, or Seaborn is desirable.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills with a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Communicate ideas clearly and collaborate effectively with others.

- The team is responsible for new product innovation, model development, and creating actionable insights for customers.
- They collaborate with Vertical and Product teams to design and implement new solutions for insurance and OEM markets.
- Using data, the analytics team supports insurers in making informed decisions, optimizing risk segmentation, and enhancing underwriting strategies.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary: USD 59,200 - 98,600 per year.
