Job Description
In this remote Data Scientist II role, you will work on Relevance Intelligence at Indeed, a discipline focused on measuring and improving how well the platform matches job seekers to relevant jobs. You will support product impact through end-to-end analysis, including experimentation, causal inference, metric development, and the construction of LLM-as-a-judge systems at scale.
The work is highly experiment-driven and directly connected to ranking, sourcing, bidding, and quality measurement. As a core technical resource, you will help define how success is measured and use data science methods to separate real causal signal from noise.
What you will do
- Lead data-driven initiatives that identify opportunities to improve product performance and business outcomes.
- Design and run advanced analyses, experiments, and machine learning models to answer complex product and business questions.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to define metrics, monitor performance, and inform short- and long-term product strategy.
- Mentor and support other data scientists by sharing best practices in methodology, modeling, and analytical thinking.
- Partner across teams to influence decisions with clear insights and visualizations suited to different audiences.
- Help develop tools, techniques, and processes that improve efficiency and increase the impact of the data science team.
- Serve as a recognized technical resource, advising on analytic approaches for high-impact problems.
Day-to-day focus
- Own Relevance Intelligence, the signal that powers ranking, sourcing, bidding, and quality measurement.
- Drive end-to-end analyses: frame the question, define success metrics and guardrails, run experiments, and isolate causal effects from noise.
- Build and apply LLM-as-a-judge systems to measure relevance at scale.
- Work across experimentation, causal inference, and metric development as core parts of the role.
Qualifications
- Education and experience: a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field with at least 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree with at least 3 years of experience, or a PhD without experience.
- Strong interest in thought-provoking assignments and continuous learning.
- Required expertise in A/B testing and experimentation.
- Solid foundation in data science methods and technologies.
- Ability to influence technical direction and contribute to long-term planning.
- Ability to work effectively with other teams and mentor colleagues.
