Data Scientist Manager
Job Description
A Data Scientist Manager who leads data-driven initiatives and a team supporting CMS Medicare quality measures and reporting programs at General Dynamics Information Technology.
Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to targeted CMS Medicare quality reporting programs and related projects.
- Utilize Python, PySpark, and Databricks to interpret, connect, predict, and uncover insights across data sources.
- Collaborate with internal and external teammates to advance the organization’s mission.
- Assess new data sources and data-gathering techniques for accuracy and suitability.
- Apply predictive modeling to enhance customer experience, drive efficiencies, and improve business outcomes.
- Optimize job performance and resource usage by identifying bottlenecks and inefficiencies in backend systems.
- Write clean, maintainable code aligned with established standards and best practices.
- Conduct thorough code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and surface potential risks.
- Debug defects and proactively mitigate issues before they impact users.
- Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives) to ensure effective team communication.
- Engage stakeholders across the organization to identify opportunities to leverage data for business solutions.
- May develop processes and machine learning based tools to monitor model performance and data accuracy.
- Lead and manage a team delivering across similar disciplines with a focus on quality of delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with CMS Medicare hospital quality measures and reporting initiatives.
- Proficiency with Python, Apache Spark, and Databricks.
- Strong understanding of software design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
- Background in analytic programming, data extraction, querying databases/data warehouses, and data analysis.
- SAS, R, and AWS experience preferred.

Salary and Benefits Information
The likely salary range is USD 129,813 to 155,250 per year. Final compensation depends on experience, geographic location, and contractual requirements.
