Data Scientist, Senior Consultant (Utilities)
Job Description
This Senior Consultant Data Scientist position supports utility clients through analytics and AI-enabled solution delivery. You will define objectives and technical requirements, build decision-support tools, lead workstreams, and communicate recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Conduct data analysis and develop analytical solutions using Python, R, Snowflake, SQL, Databricks, Power BI, GIS, and other modern analytics platforms to address complex client business challenges.
- Collaborate with utility clients and Guidehouse subject matter experts to shape business objectives, analytical strategies, technical requirements, and actionable recommendations.
- Design, build, test, and implement data, analytics, and AI-enabled solutions aligned to clients’ business objectives.
- Convert business requirements into scalable analytical workflows, data products, dashboards, visualizations, and decision-support tools.
- Lead project workstreams and provide technical mentorship, guidance, and quality review for analysts and consultants to support professional development and high-quality delivery.
- Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences to support data-driven decision-making.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- Three (3) or more years of professional experience applying data analytics, business intelligence, data science, or related quantitative techniques to solve complex business problems.
- Proficiency with analytical and data management tools such as Python, SQL, R, Databricks, Power BI, Tableau, GIS, or comparable technologies.
- Experience working with large and complex datasets and developing analytical solutions from concept through implementation.
- Strong communication and consulting skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts into business insights and recommendations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while collaborating effectively with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams.

Nice to Have
- Experience supporting electric, gas, water, or other energy-sector organizations.
- Familiarity with utility business functions such as customer programs, DERs, electrification, asset management, operations, and regulatory planning.
- Experience with cloud-based analytics platforms, data engineering, AI, machine learning, geospatial analytics, or optimization techniques.
- Experience developing dashboards, data products, or decision-support applications for business users.
- Experience in a consulting or client-facing environment.
- Master's degree or relevant certifications in analytics, cloud technologies, or data engineering.
