Data Scientist-Sr

General Dynamics Information Technology is hiring a Senior Data Scientist to support the Intelligence Data Science Team (IDST) at SOCOM HQ Intelligence Directorate in Tampa, FL (MacDill AFB). This on-site role focuses on building and shipping Python-based analytic services and machine learning applications, including data linking, predictive modeling, and user-facing tools through a Streamlit frontend.

You’ll work in an environment that values advanced data skills and practical delivery. The position supports complex intelligence and analytics workflows, integrating data from vendor APIs and databases into unified applications, while helping guide major programs and potentially taking on project leadership responsibilities.

What you’ll do

• Support the IDST within the SOCOM HQ Intelligence Directorate at MacDill AFB in Tampa, FL.
• Build and ship Python-based analytic services and develop web-based GUIs.
• Create machine learning applications using Python with a Streamlit frontend.
• Perform exploratory data analysis (EDA) on CAI/PAI and other classified sources, including structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
• Design automated data linking methods and manage the full lifecycle of data processes.
• Integrate data from vendor APIs, databases, and other sources into unified applications.
• Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experience, efficiencies, process improvements, and other business outcomes.
• Evaluate the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and gathering techniques.
• Support ML model development and Python-based analytics, including entity resolution and applied statistics.
• Work with organizational stakeholders to identify opportunities for leveraging company data.
• Assist with API data integrations, containerization workflows, and Streamlit-based GUI development.
• Guide successful completion of major programs and potentially function in a project leadership role.

What you bring

• Proficiency in Python and Bash, including API development and data manipulation.
• Demonstrated experience with SQL and large-scale systems such as PostgreSQL, Hive, or Trino.
• Strong understanding of ML concepts and familiarity with Flask or FastAPI.
• Current DoW TS/SCI Clearance required.
• 10+ years of related experience, including academic or internship-based data science work.
• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• US Government Contract requirements: U.S. Citizenship Required (only US Citizens are eligible).
• On-site schedule: 5 days.

• Salary range: $141,525 - $191,475 per year
