Job Description

KeyBank National Association seeks a Senior Data Scientist to lead quantitative modeling and analytics focused on financial crimes. Based in Cleveland with a hybrid work arrangement, the role combines data identification, model development, and ongoing monitoring to support AML, BSA, and OFAC compliance while collaborating with compliance, technology, and risk partners.

Responsibilities

  • Under the manager's guidance, execute a broad spectrum of quantitative tasks, including model development and ad hoc analytics to address financial crime compliance needs in AML, BSA, and OFAC.
  • Research, compile, and evaluate large data sets to assess quality and determine suitability for model building.
  • Develop and maintain internal models and test or configure vendor solutions to ensure sound design, proper implementation, and acceptable model performance.
  • Document the model development process and outcomes and support validation and review.
  • Apply innovative techniques to drive continuous improvements in model effectiveness and efficiency, such as reducing false positives.
  • Proactively build technical skills and business knowledge; collaborate effectively with compliance, technology, and risk partners.

Requirements

  • Master’s or PhD in statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, data science, predictive modeling, or other quantitative disciplines, with at least three years of relevant experience; four years is required with a bachelor’s degree; experience in AML/BSA, OFAC, or fraud modeling/analytics is preferred.
  • Strong expertise in both traditional statistical methods and modern machine learning/AI modeling approaches.
  • Hands-on experience coding in SAS and/or Python.
  • Knowledge of traditional databases, cloud-based computing, and distributed computing.
  • Understanding of financial crime regulatory requirements, technology, and data analysis best practices.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills with the ability to translate technical observations for non-technical audiences.

  • Base salary in the range of $94,000 to $175,000 per year.
